MEET KARA
(formerly Sweetie)

My
name is Kara and my story is very special. As you can see, I
am one of those really sweet dogs with beautiful soft eyes and a
wonderful blush pink nose.
I
had been taken to the Humane Society as a stray. Since strays
are housed in a separate section, not as many people come and look
at you. Sharon, from Pet Pals For Life, had taken a liking to
my sweet look and encouraged Mary, a supporter of their group, to go
and look at me. Mary already had 4 dogs but she is so
compassionate about animals and would go up to the shelter
frequently to see what dogs really needed homes. Mary was at
the time fostering Rex for a few days until a home could be found -
and as you probably already know, Rex was eventually adopted by
Sharon to go and live with Sonja.
Mary
was immediately taken in by my sweet disposition, and instead of
offering to foster me until a home could be found, ADOPTED
ME!! And when she took me home even Brian, Mary's
husband, immediately fell in love with me. Brian understands
Mary's love for animals and is very tolerant of her other 4 dogs,
but he thought I was really special. AND I AM!! In fact,
Brian changed my name from "Sweetie" to "Kara"
because he thought it fit me perfectly.
So
now I live with Mary and Brian, their two sons, a chocolate lab
named Hershey and three little dogs. I have a
big fenced in yard to play in and am a perfect house dog.
Brian even wants me to sleep by the bed!!
When
Sharon came over to permanently take Rex home, she knew she had been
right about my sweet face. I gave her gentle loves and kisses
and she stroked my ears and gave me kisses back.
How
wonderful it is to have a group like Pet Pals For Life and people
like Mary to look out for those of us who are abandoned or strayed
to shelters. I wish there were more humans like Pet Pals For
Life organizers and supporters to help pets like me. It would
make such a difference.
Thank
you everyone,
Kara
