CASEY
I
am one of those beautiful dogs who was taken to the Humane Society
because no one really wanted me and I was being badly
neglected. It's hard to understand because if you knew me you
would appreciate how gentle, loving and wonderful I am.
For
some reason no one seemed eager to adopt me from the shelter -
probably because I'm a lab and bigger than so many people seem to
want. One day a very sweet lady named Mary came to visit
me. She knew how special I was and told Pet Pals For Life that
I was really a remarkable boy.
At
the same time, Mary was fostering Rex who had first been at the
shelter and then boarded at Happy Dog Kennels by Pet Pals.
Sue, another supporter, worked with a very nice lady named
Brenda who had also offered to foster Rex until a home could be
found, but Mary had already taken Rex home. Then, Sharon
decided to adopt Rex permanently so she called Brenda and told her
about me. Sharon told Brenda I was a wonderful boy who really
needed a good home and asked her to consider going to see me.
Well,
Brenda did come to see me and now she's my NEW MOM!! The first
thing she did was change my name from Grunt to Casey. ( Sharon was
glad to hear that because she thought Grunt was a horrible name.)
Brenda's nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances all came to meet
me and they think I'm just wonderful.
Sue
saw Brenda at work the other day and Brenda smiled and said,
"that dog". She went on to describe how afraid I am
of storms and that I had spent the stormy night before in her arms
or sitting on her daughter's feet.
Isn't
it just grand that so many humans work together to find just the
right home for pets like me? And one last note. Sharon
said one of her customers at Heart of the Vine had seen my picture
on her Adopt A Pet board and remarked, "How good it is that he
has a new home. I live down the street from where he lived
before and he was always neglected and alone. He's such a nice
dog."
I
am really a happy boy,
Casey
(no longer Grunt!)
